Westerly

For a true appreciation of the natural beauty of the area, Napatree Point is a protected barrier beach with rolling dunes, beach grass and wildlife. A wonderful place for a walk or a picnic. Weekapaug Village to the East with it sense of calm will capture your senses right away. With no retail shops to speak of and only perhaps a bait shop and sandwich/icecream parlor it will allow you to take in the the views of Block Island and the Watch Hill Light House from the infomous Spray Rock . Generations of cottages line the private roads that the 300 acre village encompasses. Weekapug means " end of the pond". Breechways allow acces to the open ocean for boaters and fisherman. The rock jetties lining the breecways from Quonnie and Winnapaug Pond are mainly granite ;Westerly granite. Westerly's granite industry was long time history of employment for the townspeople. Blue and Pink granite has been used thru out New England. Misquamicut Beach features 7 miles of sand and surf.Perfect for generations of families that have raised their children in the summer time along the sandy shores. Life long experiences and memories. The year round heart of the Community is downtown Westerly. The architecture will capture your attention to the detail of it's era.
